I’m confident in saying that this is the best vegan french toast recipe out there [period]
It’s egg and egg alternative free
no need for egg replacers, flax eggs, chia eggs, banana puree, none of that.
Simple. Easy. Basic as fuck
A French toast experience like no other
These are so flavorful, super soft, moist with a nice crispy edge on the crust.
Aight let’s get into it, here’s what you’ll need to make these egg free, dairy free Vegan French Toast:
1 Loaf of bread- its best to get an unsliced loaf.
1 cup Ripple Half & Half (you can sub this with almond milk)
3 tbsp vegan butter (melted)
1 tbsp cane sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
a pinch of sea salt
Get a hot skillet going- medium heat recommended. I used a cast iron pan, adjust your heat according to your pan. No need to grease oil or butter your pan for this recipe.
Combine all the ingredients at once in a shallow bowl, one suitable for dipping the slice bread on the flat side.
Keep the whisk on deck for occasional stirring between slices
Slice your bread 3/4 in thick (that’s about the thickness of two traditional slices of bread)
Place your sliced bread into the mix for 10 seconds per side.
Place your now wet slice of bread onto the hot skillet and cook until each side is nice and brown 3-5 minutes. A little longer for the crispy crust.
Repeat these steps for each slice.
Remove from heat and enjoy these with your favorite topping.
Basic Strawberry Topping (seen in photo above)
Grab a handful of strawberries (fresh or frozen), a tbsp of water, about 1/4 cup of cane sugar and dump em into a sauce pace over high medium to high heat. Allow the sugar to caramelize and the strawberries to break down a bit. The end results will be tender strawberries with a thick red syrup.
